1. Indian Head Massage: Learn The Techniques Of Indian Head Massage

As Indian Head Massage involves stimulating areas of the head, neck, shoulders, and face, it is important for practitioners to have an understanding of these areas of the anatomy before any massage techniques can be applied to them, and so this area is covered in the course materials.

More than just the physical act of massage, the Indian Head Massage course talks you through how to understand your client better and how using techniques, such as visualisation and various breathing techniques, can help to improve the client’s experience and enhance the benefit they get from the session.

The course also talks through how to set up a comfortable environment for the client, as well as how to treat specific clients.

Understanding Massage

The physical side of the massage, this part of the course talks you through the various techniques that can be employed and how each of them benefits the client, as well as the spiritual side of Indian Head Massage. This part of the course culminates in how to perform a basic Indian Head Massage using the newly-learned techniques.

2. Reflexology: Learn How To Treat Clients With Reflexology Techniques

Reflexology is a non-intrusive complementary health therapy, based on the theory that different points on the feet, lower leg, hands, face or ears correspond with different areas of the body. Reflexologists work holistically with their clients and aim to work alongside allopathic healthcare to promote better health for their clients.

The Reflexology Certificate Course guides students through treating clients with reflexology techniques. This course goes into great depth about the various systems of the body, how they should function when in a healthy state, how each can become disordered, and how to aid recovery through reflexology.

In addition to the course materials, you will also be given access to video tutorials of a Holistic Therapist running through a Reflexology Session, highlighting key techniques and typical session practice. The videos cover:

  • Cleansing the feet
  • Application of cream
  • Ankle rotation
  • Ankle freeing
  • Spinal friction
  • Foot moulding
  • Creeping
  • Finger walking or creeping
  • Hooking out
  • Rotations
  • Kneading
  • Rib cage relaxation
  • Diaphragm relaxation
  • Ending a session

You will learn the practice of reflexology and covers its history, how reflexology is practised today, who it works for and its aims.

Students will learn how various parts of the feet mirror parts of the body, about the zones, guidelines, and anatomy of the feet, along with being exposed to foot maps.

You will discover all the areas that you need to be aware of when you intend to work on clients, covering topics such as: how to prepare for a session, creating a case history, knowing how to assess feet for ailments, and understanding common issues with feet.

Students will learn some common techniques in reflexology in detail, along with providing an understanding of the sensations that will accompany treatment and common side effects that can occur.

The course explains the digestive system, imparting knowledge about essential foodstuffs needed on a daily basis, the general function of the various digestive organs, specifics about the liver, and the process of swallowing. The course explains the various conditions that can arise should the digestive system become disordered, what reflexology can do to aid these types of ailments and how to perform the necessary techniques on the relevant areas of the feet.

The course describes the common disorders that can occur in the respiratory system, what can be done with reflexology to aid symptoms, and which techniques to apply. It also illustrates the process of blood circulation around the body, with particular focus around the heart – describing the locations and functions of the major parts of this organ. Heart conditions are also described, along with how reflexology is used in treating these ailments.

The lymphatic system with the lymph nodes, the thymus, and the spleen, and each of their functions, is explained along with the endocrine system, the glands and the general functions of the hormones secreted by them. Stress-related hormones are explained here, along with what reflexology can do to help this and the endocrine system as a whole.

The course explains the purpose and function of the nervous system, including the parasympathetic and sympathetic division of the autonomic nervous system, and of the major parts of the brain. We also cover the structures and functions of the ears, eyes, and sinuses. Again, the disorders that can occur in each of these and how reflexology can aid recovery are discussed in this module.

Students will learn the musculoskeletal system and how reflexology can help in alleviating pain found within this system. The hands can be used a similar way as the feet in aiding symptoms of disorders in various areas of the body. Students will learn about the bones, muscles and joints of the hands, as well as providing a hand map and setting students the task of explaining how they would use the hand, rather the foot, in the treatment of a client, applying what they have learnt so far.

Finally, we will give students some pointers on how to set up a reflexology business. Areas of discussion include; research, setting working hours, equipment you’ll need, record keeping and bookkeeping, insurance, and promoting the business.

Who Would Benefit from the Course?

The Reflexology Certificate Course is accessible to everyone; requiring no previous knowledge, students are led from the basics, to understanding how reflexology can be used to aid specific aliments and disorders of the body. This knowledge can be applied to clients in a holistic therapy practice setting, either as a sole service or as an additional treatment to existing services, it can also be used to help friends and family with their ailments.

3. Massage Therapist: Become A Massage Therapist

Massage has been used for centuries to heal, invigorate and relax the mind and body, reaching all the major organs as well as helping the muscles, bones and soft tissue to stay healthy.

Before you employ any techniques, this Massage Therapy course takes you through various parts of the anatomy and systems of the body, to give important knowledge about why massage is used and in what ways it is beneficial to the body, including which techniques to use for specific ailments. It also details best practices, how to recognise symptoms of various conditions, and how to treat specific clients, for example when it is safe to massage someone in pregnancy and which techniques to use and which to avoid.

The massage principle is simple: touch means stimulation. This means that wherever touch is used, the body reacts. Because of the changing landscape of the skin and the body parts it protects, differing levels of touch on the body elicit a range of responses; a soft stroke on the forearm may induce relaxation, but a deeper touch might help the blood vessels in the lower arm take blood back to the heart or stimulate and deepen blood flow to painful muscles.

You will learn how to create the right atmosphere for massage and how to conduct a session, to give the client a positive experience. This includes which oils to use for massage and how choosing specific oils can have positive effects on certain conditions of the client’s body and mind.

It then moves onto the practice of the subject; massage techniques and how to deploy them to various parts of the body, and how each treatment is beneficial. The course also takes you through specific massage applications, such as massage for sports and abdominal massage, as well as the benefits, and how to perform, hydrotherapy.

The massage courses finish off with some useful pointers and considerations for those looking to set up their own business.

Who would benefit from this course?

This is a comprehensive course that will take you from complete beginner to having all the knowledge you need to set up and practice as a Massage Therapist, along with giving a solid foundation for advanced study and further study into specific treatment areas. Alternatively you could use the information contained within the course to help friends and family, or learn with a partner, so you can both reap the benefits of massage.

4. Acupressure: An Ancient Chinese Healing Therapy

Acupressure is based on the concept of life energy (also known as Chi or Qi), which flows through the body along pathways known as meridians. The belief is that many of the discomforts or even diseases that we suffer with are a result of blockages occurring in these meridians, causing a negative effect to the flow of our life energy. Acupressure is an alternative medicine technique that identifies specific points on the body (known as acupoints) where the flow of our life force is being hindered and, rather than using needles as acupuncture does, uses precise finger placement to apply pressure to these areas to unblock the pathway, freeing up the flow of life force and relieving symptoms.

Who would benefit from this course?

Written for complete beginners to the subject, this course requires no prerequisites, just an eagerness to learn, and will take you from novice to business owner. The Acupressure Certificate Course is also beneficial to those who have studied other alternative therapies or may already have a therapy business and wish to expand their repertoire and the services they can offer.

5. Advanced Reflexology: How Reflexology Can Be Used In Treatment

The course will take you through a comprehensive study of human biology and how reflexology can be used in the treatment of specific conditions such as stress, infertility and pregnancy. You will also develop a strong understanding of the powerful connection that exists between reflexology and natural healing.

From the Advanced Reflexology Certificate Course, you will learn how to improve the treatments you provide. You’ll gain a deeper understanding of the ethos of reflexology and how you can develop a more intuitive, observational practice, that will reveal contra-indications of specific common health issues while ensuring you can translate the reflex map of the hands, feet and ears.

7. Pain Management Practitioner: Learn The Different Methods of Managing Pain

This course provides a comprehensive understanding of the mind-body connection. You will discover how big a part the mind plays in your feelings of pain and how, with the right knowledge, you can use it to combat them.

Physical and emotional, chronic and acute, tissue, nerve and psychogenic, there are many different types of pain. You will learn about each type and the effects they have on those afflicted.

This course will teach you how to be reflective and take control of the elements of your life that cause you pain. You will discover the power of using positive affirmations and visualisations to strengthen your will and determination, to release pain and combat the negative energies that may have gripped your current mindset.

You will learn how to use a variety of holistic practices to combat pain, the first of which is hypnotherapy. You will discover how it works and be guided through several self-hypnosis scripts that you can use to ease various types of pain.

One of the simplest methods of relieving pain is meditation. When you meditate your brain releases endorphins, which are your natural pain relievers, and make you feel happier. The course explains the benefits of meditation, answers common questions, and guides you through meditations that are useful in relieving pain.

Mindfulness is a powerful tool in combating stress and anxiety and in enhancing wellbeing. It also enables you to pay close attention to your pain, without judgement and understand your thoughts and mindset. You will be guided in the techniques used in the practice.

You may not know it, but you could be subconsciously sabotaging your efforts to be free from pain. The Pain Management Practitioner Course explains Part Therapy and Secondary Gain, and how to uncover your negative subconscious thoughts and bring them to the forefront of your mind to be addressed.

Some types of pain can seem unexplainable as they are the result of an event in your past, or even after a past life, which has been suppressed. The course explains Regression Therapy and how you can use it to help relieve this type of pain by enabling you to explore and resolve past issues through self-hypnosis.

NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming) helps people to understand and recode the way their brain responds to stimuli and programme themselves to manifest better and new behaviours. The course explains how you can use the techniques of NLP to dial down pain, make it fade away, or even make the pain softer and less intense.

It’s hard to be in a bad mood when you are laughing. The Pain Management Practitioner Course looks at research that shows how laughing can aid pain management and how you can use it as a tool to improve your well-being.

In addition, other complementary therapies are discussed, such as acupuncture and aromatherapy, and how these can be used alongside massage for the benefit of the client and the additional revenue it will bring to the business.

Armed with theoretical knowledge and practical techniques to provide prenatal massages and additional therapies, the remainder of the Pregnancy Massage Course focusses on providing students with information on how to start a business. You will be given crucial expert advice on how to start and maintain your business, how to set up a therapy room, and points to keep in mind when choosing a clinic, whether you aim to start in your home, join another clinic, or find your own premises.

There is a myriad of ways to market your business, from traditional to modern means. This course gives an overview on a number of the ways that you can increase the exposure of your business and gain more clients. Also discussed are the ways that you can operate, other services and products you can provide, and other ways of gaining exposure that will give you an edge over the competition.

The final module of the Pregnancy Massage Course summarises what has been learned throughout the course. This gives students the opportunity to not only feel a sense of accomplishment for all they have learned but to also ensure they have retained the information and to highlight areas that they may need to go over again.

Who would benefit from this course?

If you have completed our Reflexology Certificate Course or already have a good level of foundational knowledge, the Advanced Reflexology Certificate Course will help you to progress your skills, knowledge, and technical ability. You will understand more about the human body and the ailments it can suffer and deepen your knowledge of the relationship between reflexology and natural healing.

For business owners, along with improving your knowledge, the course will give you extra confidence in your practice, your business acumen, and enable you to reach and assist a wider range of clients.

This is an advanced course, so it is assumed that you have a working knowledge of basic reflexology techniques before you begin studying this course. If you are new to the subject, please try our Reflexology Certificate Course, or Hand Reflexology Certificate Course if you are looking for a specialised course.

6. Hand Reflexology: Learn The Practice Of Hand Reflexology

Hand Reflexology is a holistic treatment that uses thumb and finger techniques on reflex points to rebalance and relax and to improve the function of body systems. Step-by-step, this course will teach you these techniques and more – explaining anatomy and the theories behind the practice, as well as offering professional guidance and advice on setting up a business.

The Hand Reflexology Course covers the important issues of Health, Hygiene, and Safety, for the protection of both yourself and your clients. As part of this, you will gain knowledge on standard sanitation concerns and practices, along with how to keep your treatment room free from health and safety hazards. You will also learn how to conduct yourself in a professional manner when administrating treatments.

As a Reflexologist, it is important for you to understand the body. The course provides step-by-step guidance on hand reflexology treatments, assessments and routines, and warm-up exercises and techniques for you to practice and perfect. Advice on how to consult with clients, to ensure they get the most from the treatment, is also discussed.

If your aim is to learn reflexology to use on yourself and to share with family and friends, you too will find the course interesting and easy to follow – providing you with a skill for life.

8. Pregnancy Massage:Learn The Techniques Used To Provide Effective Prenatal Massage

The Pregnancy Massage Course will give you both the theoretical and practical knowledge you need to provide safe, relaxing, and beneficial prenatal massage to expectant mothers.

Not only will students learn the techniques used to provide effective treatment but they will also gain an in-depth understanding of pregnancy massages and how to start a business using these new skills.

Pregnancy massage (or prenatal massage, as it is also known) differs from other kinds of massage; it is important to know the differences and how it is unique. The start of the course outlines this, as well as informing students of the best time during pregnancy to start prenatal massage and how it can help in different ways through the three trimesters of pregnancy, including how it can help not just the mother, but also the baby.

From the Pregnancy Massage Course, students will gain an understanding of the anatomical and emotional changes the mother-to-be will undergo during her pregnancy, which will help in deciding which techniques are best for the individual. Also discussed, are the benefits of pregnancy massage in comparison to medication.

From this base of knowledge, the course moves into the practical aspect of massage. This includes information on the different types of massages that can be performed on a pregnant woman, how to do them, and the advantages of each technique.

Here students are also given eight steps to follow, to help them on their way to opening their own business in the industry.
