Course 1 - Certificate in Introduction to InDesign CC Online Course
There are 12 units of study
Getting up to Speed With InDesign CC
If you've worked with InDesign for a while now, you probably know there's much more to the program than you use regularly—if you only knew about it! And there's probably ways to work more efficiently, if only you had the time to figure them out! There are probably a lot of great projects you could be working on, if you knew how to start! How about creating a booklet for your employee orientation? Or some multilayered effects to take your newsletter to the next level? If this describes you, then get ready for some intensive learning! We'll spend this first lesson exploring some time-saving InDesign features as we dig into the first project: a master style sheet you'll develop and use throughout the course.
Creating a Multipurpose Template
You know that the better organized you are, the easier it is to get your work done. You're going to delve into more organizing in this lesson. You'll start by defining your own workspace in InDesign, tailoring it to how you like to find and access tools and features. Picking up from where you left off in Lesson 1, you're going to make a library from the images you assembled in the first lesson, and our business logo. Then we'll get started on a multiuse template for our resort, using various InDesign features to save time and add consistency to our publications.
Using Multiple Pages and Page Sizes in a Document
Master pages are one of the most important tools in your InDesign toolkit. In today's lesson, you'll finish the basic template for our resort business. You'll create multiple Master pages you can quickly apply for different projects. You'll see how to use the multiple page size feature in InDesign CC to build letterhead and an envelope for our business, using the Library and other time-saving features in InDesign.
Applying Specialized Layout Features
Have you ever seen publications using features like text wraps that add a professional touch? That's what you're doing in this lesson. You're going to start from an existing publication containing the images and text sitting on the pasteboard. Then comes the fun! First, you'll see how to adjust image sizes and locations. You'll work with different types of text wraps to control how the text flows on the page—and you don't have to be an illustrator to do it! Then you'll learn how to attach a small graphic to text to give the headings in the project some extra pizzazz.
Working With Double-Page Spreads and Facing Pages
There are usually several ways to do the same task in InDesign, and there's often one method that's more advanced than others. In this lesson, you'll dig into some of the ways you can design features to help you work faster and smarter. You'll learn how to use facing pages and double-page spreads as you create part of the guest room guide for our example business. Along the way, you'll work with several character styles and create a nested style to apply several styles at one time in the same paragraph. Then you'll see how to build and use an object style.
Designing With Tables and Custom Template Layouts
Tables aren't just for pages of data! In this lesson, you'll build a folding tent card to display special menu items for the resort. You'll use a custom template, like the ones you'd download from a print shop. You'll see how to convert text into a table, and how to style the table and its contents using colors you sample from the project's logo. Since the project includes a folded page, you'll see how to flip content and the spreads so that you can produce the finished product—without trying to read upside down!
Constructing a Book Publication
If you've ever wondered how a book comes together, this lesson will answer all your questions. You'll build an employee handbook using several documents combined into a book file. You'll learn how to coordinate the appearance of the content in all the files by setting one file as the style source. Then you'll work your way through the files to make sure they conform to the styles. You'll work with page numbering and headers, and finally create a table of contents to guide your readers through your masterpiece.
Organizing and Merging Data
Have you ever had to do a boring mail merge where you plug fields from one table into a boilerplate letter? Well, that's what you're doing today. But this isn't your usual type of mail merge! Yes, you're going to use fields from a source table and merge them into fields in an InDesign document—but wait until you see the document! Rather than a letter, you're going to work with a photo cube template and make a snazzy invitation to the opening of ArtSpace, the new gallery at The Ferns. You'll work with a table of merge data and use metadata from images you place in the photo cube to automatically add captions to the project.
Producing an Interactive PDF Document
You know about using InDesign to create all sorts of wonderful print publications from brochures to newsletters. But did you know InDesign has a whole category of features designed for interactive documents, too? You're going to assemble a new file quickly from parts brought in from other documents. Then you'll organize the items and content on the page to make it easier to add interactive content. Once everything is in place, you'll add hyperlinks and buttons to create a snazzy RSVP document and export it from InDesign as a PDF file.
Handling Color and Transparency in a Publication
There's nothing like color to add interest to your publications. There's nothing worse than having problems printing color. In this lesson, you'll start a two-part adventure into color. You'll learn how to calibrate your monitor—the first step in using color confidently. Then you'll see how to work with a Color Management System in Adobe Bridge used across all your Adobe products for consistency. Finally, you'll get into a new InDesign project. You'll be designing a brochure for the wedding services at The Ferns. You'll work with multiple objects and project components and learn about transparency and how to apply it for the most impact.
Printing Color Documents
What's the big deal about printing a color document? Well, as you'll find out today, there's a lot more to printing color than making sure you have paper in your printer. We'll dig into the Printing and Proofing workspace and check out what it has to offer. You'll learn about using transparency flattening to make sure your color pages and images print the way you want, and then try some test prints. You'll learn how to evaluate your document using a preflight profile and how to work with color separations and overprint previews. You'll work with spot colors and discover how to produce a two-color publication. Many high-end projects need to go to a print shop, and you'll discover how to package up your files for the printer.
Producing Multiple Document Versions and EPUBs
In this lesson, we'll start by exploring ways to produce content for different-sized digital devices by using alternate layouts and layout rules. Then you'll work with text and images from Alice in Wonderland to build an EPUB. You'll learn a lot about what does and doesn't work in an EPUB, and work with best practices for producing different types of EPUB documents. You'll create both reflowable and fixed layout EPUB publications.

Introducing Photoshop
Your journey begins. Whether you're an aspiring graphic artist or a weekend photographer, Photoshop can take you places you've never dreamed of. In this lesson, you'll discover how enjoyable it can be to paint in Photoshop—where you don't need to clean up after yourself, and there's no odor of turpentine. You'll find out how Photoshop "thinks" about color and how you can use the brushes inside Photoshop to make a simple landscape. You'll even blend colors on your image as if they were made of oil paints or watercolors. This is a fun lesson!
More Brush Tools
Zoom, Scrubby Zoom, Airbrush, Eraser, Smudge: Do you know what these tools and commands mean in Photoshop? You will! In this lesson, you'll find out how to navigate your image so that you can edit and paint more effectively—and give your eyes a rest too. You'll also learn how to erase, blur, smudge, and finger paint. These techniques are fun, easy ways to make dramatic changes in your images, whether you're altering photos or creating a work of art from scratch.
Colorizing Images
Have you seen ads or greeting cards where most of the image is in black and white but one part's in color? Today you'll find out how to create that effect. You'll be amazed at how easy it is to transform images from color into black and white or even old-fashioned sepia. We'll also cover some tricks with the History Brush tool and history snapshots, so you can experiment while you're creating a hand-tinted image . . . and quickly undo whatever steps you don't like.
Making and Saving Rectangular and Oval Selections
If you wanted a friend to hand you an orange from a fruit bowl, you'd probably just point to the one you want or describe its location. Photoshop also needs directions if you want to lift something out of an image or point it out in some way. The Photoshop name for "pointing" is selections. In this lesson, you'll learn the critical skill of making selections. You'll see how easy it is to isolate portions of your image so that you can add a filter or change the colors. You'll also create vignettes, which are photos with an opaque center that falls off to a very soft edge. And if you don't like the selection you just made, you'll get help from the Refine Edge command.
Using Additional Selection Tools
Photoshop has some great selection tools, but until now, all of them have had trouble selecting exactly what you had in mind. You can see the flower, so why can't Photoshop? Today you'll learn to use the Lasso, Magic Wand, and Quick Selection tools to make the selections you want as you practice putting two images together.
Creating and Customizing Brushes
You can paint in Photoshop—even if the only thing you can do with paint in "real life" is spill it! Photoshop lets you create fabulous brushes from images and customize them in many ways. You can modify the new bristle-tip brushes to help you turn photos into art . . . or to create your own work of art just by using brushstrokes.
Discovering Gradients
Gradients are fountains of color. One of the current trends in photography is to colorize areas of a photo with a gradient. You can spend hundreds of dollars buying gradient-colored stock photos—or just use what you learn in this lesson to create them yourself! Even portraits can be much more exciting with a gradient added to them.

Fixing Images
In this lesson, we'll focus on the three R's of photo manipulation: restoring, retouching, and rearranging. You'll be amazed by what you can do—and you'll understand why the phrase "pictures can't lie" is no longer true! You'll also discover how to use the amazing Clone Stamp panel and the "preview" feature on the Clone Stamp brush cursor. Plus you'll learn about the content-aware tools that help Photoshop make more intelligent guesses as to the fixes you want.

Units of Study
The Introduction to InDesign CC Online 5 Course Bundle includes the following courses, below is a summary of each course:

Course 3 - Certificate in Introduction to Photoshop CS6 Online Course
There are 12 units of study
Introducing Photoshop
Your journey begins. Whether you're an aspiring graphic artist or a weekend photographer, Photoshop can take you places you've never dreamed of. Even if you've never touched Photoshop before, you'll be able to open, edit, and save files before this lesson ends. You'll also find out how to download images, and you'll learn simple commands that make an image "pop."
Choosing Colors and Painting
Did you like playing with paints as a child?
Setting Type and Adding Effects to Text
Whether you want to add type to a scrapbooking layout, make large type for display, or learn a little bit about Photoshop's Layer Styles, you'll enjoy this lesson. You'll try your hand at making type that warps, wiggles, and follows a path. Then you'll see what you can do to text on your own.
Setting Image Resolution and Image Sizes for Input and Output
Today you'll learn how to size your images for printing or for the Web. You'll find out how to scan an image so that it's large enough for your needs, but not too large, and how to crop images that have more than you really want to see.
Correcting Exposure, Color, and Tonal Value
Are some of your images overexposed, underexposed, or tinged an ugly yellow? In this lesson, learn how to correct exposures and colors to make them more attractive and truer to life. Photoshop can't work miracles all the time, but if you have an image that's a bit too dark or a bit too light, you can fix it up so that it looks perfect.

You’ll finish the lesson by learning about the most important troubleshooting tools for fixing operating systems.
OS Fixes
Lesson 4 leads you through the basic steps of troubleshooting an operating system, including startup, video, sound, and application errors. You’ll look at tools like Safe Mode and the System Configuration utility and learn about driver rollback. You’ll end the lesson by learning how to troubleshoot audio/visual errors.
Avoiding OS Obstacles
How would you like to prevent system problems instead of rushing to fix them? In this lesson, you’ll master the three most important types of preventive maintenance: backing up data that’s on a hard drive, updating or upgrading the operating system, and using Windows utilities that help you monitor and maintain the OS.
Networking Basics
Lesson 6 covers the basics of networking. First, you’ll find out how networks work and what the necessary components are for a wired network. Next, you’ll discover wireless networks and everything that separates them from their wired-network brethren. Finally, you’ll learn about the biggest network of them all, the Internet.
Troubleshooting Network and Internet Issues
Lesson 7 covers the steps to take when trying to fix your network or Internet connections. You’ll learn how to troubleshoot wired and wireless networks, share files, and fix a dial-up or broadband Internet connection.
Preventing Internet Problems
Keep your computer safe from Internet-based attacks, including viruses and spyware! You’ll discover the many types of malicious software that can infect your computer, and I’ll walk you through the five-step process of recovering from a virus infection. You’ll also read about safe browsing and safe email use, and you’ll find out how to configure a firewall to help defend your PC.
Introduction to PC Hardware
All PC techs needs to get their hands dirty eventually, which means diving inside the case and checking things out from the inside. In this lesson, I’ll teach you about the power of different PC parts, including what to look for when shopping for new parts. I’ll also guide you in the safe and proper handling of components.
Installing Hardware
Replacing hardware components can dramatically improve your PC's performance. For instance, RAM can speed up your computer, a second hard drive increases your data storage capacity, and expansion cards can add features and ports to your computer. In this lesson, you'll learn to handle RAM, hard drives, and expansion cards.
Maintaining Hardware
Dirt happens! You can't make your PC last forever, but you can make it last longer and run better by keeping it clean. Get out your canned air and your distilled water (but not your pencil erasers or your household vacuum cleaner), and I'll show you safe and effective ways to check, clean, and maintain the inside and outside of your computer. We'll also talk about how to donate an old computer, and I'll explain how to throw away a computer without losing data or harming the environment.
Life of a PC Troubleshooter
You've come a long way since the beginning of this course. Before you complete your PC troubleshooting training, I'll remind you about the computing process and about troubleshooting theory. Combined with your new knowledge of PC hardware, software, and networking, you can use these tools to fix all sorts of problems. I'll also discuss your future as a PC troubleshooter, including the certifications and careers available to anyone with the right skills.
Course 5 - Certificate in Introduction to QuickBooks Online Course
There are 12 units of study
Getting Started
In our first lesson, you'll get familiar with the QuickBooks Online interface and explore the pros and cons of working with your accounting information online. We'll discuss the various subscription packages available, and you'll get to practice using some of the navigation and interactive features that allow you to quickly get around in the program.
The Chart of Accounts
The Chart of Accounts is the heart and soul of QuickBooks. In today's lesson, you'll learn how to take full advantage of this powerful tool to add, edit, and access accounts that you can use to track the value of your business or monitor your income and expenses.
Centers and Lists
Today, you'll learn how to use centers and lists in QuickBooks to gather and organize all of the information you'll need to properly conduct business with customers and vendors. By the time you finish this lesson, you'll know how to store and edit various types of information, such as addresses and payment terms, for your customers and vendors. You'll also learn how to process Form 1099 to give to your vendors at the end of the year.
Bank Accounts
Today, you'll get comfortable working with bank accounts in QuickBooks Online. You'll learn how to create a new bank account, connect it online, and download, match, and add transactions. Then you'll learn how to reconcile your checking account with your monthly bank statement to make sure that neither you nor the bank made any errors.
Recording Expenses—Part 1
Keeping track of the checks and other expense transactions your business incurs is one of the most critical aspects of your daily operations. In this lesson, you'll learn how to utilize QuickBooks' built-in features to enter check transactions and bank transfers like a pro. You'll also learn how to record expense transactions where you may have utilized your debit card as payment or paid the amount online. You'll even learn how to label an expense as billable so that you can later request reimbursement from a customer. Finally, you'll practice with creating a recurring transaction template that may help save you some valuable data entry time!
Recording Expenses—Part 2
Without an organized system for managing all the bills your business receives, they can really start to stack up. And when bills pile up, it isn't hard to overlook one or two from time to time. That, of course, can result in late fees and credit difficulties. Today, you'll learn how to enter, edit, and pay all of your bills right on time. You'll also learn how to enter and apply vendor credits to an existing or future bill.
Credit Cards and Loans
In this lesson, you'll learn how to effectively manage Credit Card accounts in QuickBooks Online. We'll explore how to create a new Credit Card account and enter charges to that account as they occur. You'll also learn how to enter a full or partial payment of the credit card balance when it comes time for payment. Finally, you'll get the chance to create and enter a new loan balance resulting from the purchase of a long-term asset such as a vehicle or piece of equipment.
Recording Income—Part 1
You'll find today's lesson useful if your business ever sells a product or service and collects payment on the sale immediately. Today is the day you'll get some hands-on experience with creating products and services. Then you'll find out how to create multiple Sales Receipts and make the necessary deposit to your bank.
Recording Income—Part 2
In order to evaluate just how well your company is performing, you'll need to learn how to enter estimates, invoices, and customer payments. You'll do just that in this lesson. You'll also learn how to group multiple customer payments and record those deposits to the bank.
Recording Income—Part 3
Today, you're going to explore how to bill a customer for an expense incurred on a project or job. You'll even see how you can add a markup percentage to the amount you include on the customer invoice. Also, you'll examine the steps needed to enter credit memos, delayed credits, and refunds.
Customizing Sales Forms and Recording Fixed Assets
Today, you're going to learn how to customize your QuickBooks sales forms to give them a more professional look. You'll also learn how to record long-term fixed assets and record depreciation on those assets.
Sales Taxes and Reports
In our final lesson, you'll learn how to work with the sales tax features in the program to collect and remit taxes you collect from customers. You'll also find out how to create, use, and customize a wide variety of useful reports that can help you locate, organize, sort, total, summarize, and otherwise make sense of all those transactions you've painstakingly entered into QuickBooks Online.
